A morning show host at Accra-based Peace FM, Nana Yaw Kese has condemned the convenor of the Democracy Hub group, Oliver Barker-Vormawor for being lawless by removing the key from a police truck during his group's protest over the weekend.

A widely circulated video from the scene shows Barker-Vormawor turning off the engine of a police tow truck, taking the key, and fleeing. In the background, a voice can be heard shouting, "he has taken the key! Thief, thief! Arrest him!"

Barker-Vormawor, who also serves as the Constitutional Rights and Policy Advisor for the Democracy Hub, later admitted to the act.

In a Facebook post, he justified his actions, saying, "yes, I took the key of the police tow truck to demobilize it! I own my resistance to the unlawful seizure of the vehicle carrying our water."

Commenting on the issue, Nana Yaw Kesse expressed displeasure over how unruly the protesters conducted themselves and dared Barker-Vormawor to try what he did on a vehicle belonging to the military.

"Hungry youth who want something to eat and are willing to die will use democracy to destroy Ghana if we are not careful. I hope Ghana Police Service will not allow this to happen again. What! where in this world will a civilian be such courageous? So, if it were a vehicle belong to the army, would he have gone to take the key? It is clear that the youth were out there to provoke the police so that they will be assaulted then that becomes the talk of town. But this wouldn't be one of the instances that the police will be condemned for assaulting demonstrators. If it were a military vehicle, would he have gone close to it? Like by this time, his family members would have still been searching for him.

"Let's communicate this, especially to our youth who will not find jobs after completing school but think they can depend solely on politics to feed themselves. Because of politics, you sometimes see a young man who struggles to even afford a shaving stick to shave their beards, use unprintable words on leaders in the country as though Ghana is burnt. What is all that" Nana Yaw Kesse fumed.

An altercation occurred on Sunday, September 22, during the second day of a three-day protest organised by Democracy Hub, which was aimed at drawing attention to economic mismanagement and other national concerns.

Several demonstrators were arrested after engaging in acts of "lawlessness," according to a statement from the Ghana Police Service. Demonstrators blocked roads, pushed down police barriers, and obstructed traffic in their efforts to express their discontent.
