Tsatsu is not qualified for SC case, and boring - Sir John

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has described the NDC lead counsel, Tsatsu Tsikata as the most “boring lawyer” he has ever come across in his years of practice as a lawyer.

According to him he is very glad the NDC can now attest to that due to the annoying facial expression of their party members while Tsatsu is still cross-examining Dr. Bawumia.

Sir John who was speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM claims that, ever since the public lambasted the Electoral Commissioner (EC), Afari Gyan for disrespecting the Supreme Court with his habit of chewing gum whiles in court, Asiedu Nketia has adopted a new strategy by eating an unknown candy, but before he prefers chewing cola to keep him awake in court.

However, Sir John believes the habit of cola chewing, eating candies by General Mosquito could have been avoided if the NDC accepted the irregularities of the 2012 election and handed over the presidential mandate to Nana Akufo-Addo as the eligible president voted into power by the electorate.

Furthermore, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie says the NPP careless if the lead counsel of the NDC would use eight months for his cross examination just to elongate the proceedings.

“Now toffees are what Asiedu Nketia and his party members are eating in court. Ever since the media hit hard on Afari Gyan for chewing gum in court, toffee is what they (the NDC members) are eating to keep them awake because Tsatsu Tsikata is boring. Asiedu Nketia will sleep in court if he is not offered a toffee. He was used to cola but upgraded to toffees. Asiedu Nketia can eat three toffees at a time but trust me he still sleeps.

“…if they (the NDC) have conceded defeat to Nana Addo, they wouldn’t have been in court eating toffees and chewing cola. I pray he (Asiedu Nketia) will not get diabetes after the court case,” he said.

Meanwhile, he added that the motion filed by Tsatsu Tsikata seeking to cross examine witnesses whose testimonies have come by affidavits is just an approach to prolong proceedings and that Philip Addison, the lead counsel for the petitioners, is ever ready for Mr. Tsikata.

“Tsatsu Tsikata is not even done with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia but calling on other witnesses to be cross-examined? This shows how frustrated Mr. Tsikata is. It is surprising how Tsatsu Tsikata who is not even qualified for this case is crying more than the president who benefited from the irregularities,” he said.
