Tuobodom in flames

At Tuobodom in the Brong Ahafo region, Nana Ankomah Tenten II has ceased to be the Nifahene of the little town. A ceremony was held last Wednesday to destool him in his absence.

Speaking at Techiman, Nana Obeng Ameyaw Barimah, chief of Tuobodom cited the refusal of the Nifahene to attend to the people's call when they needed his services, adding that it is contrary to the oath he swore prior to his enstoolment.

"He has refused to honour my invitation and keeps re-scheduling meetings and now it has become necessary to demote him", Nana Ameyaw stated. He stressed that the oath to attend to the call of the people whether rain or shine, day or night is very serious and should not be flouted with impunity as Nana Tenten has continuously done.

The chiefs and people of Tuobodom are yet to elect a new Nifahene. Meanwhile the Krontihene of the town was also destooled recently, amidst a barrage of charges raised against him by Nana Ameyaw Barimah. For some time now, Tuobodom has been rocked by chieftaincy disputes and the current chief Nana Ameyaw calls the recent destoolments a chieftaincy revolution.

However, The Sun can report that if prompt efforts are not made to arrest the situation, it can escalate into disaster.
