‘Twea’ DCE seizes bungalow

The Ahafo-Ano South District, with Mankranso as capital, could be thrown into turmoil if the sacked District Chief Executive continues to occupy the official residence and enjoy other benefits.

Gabriel Barimah, who was sacked by President John Dramani Mahama for misconduct, has incurred the wrath of his constituents for the continued occupation of the official residence.

A group calling itself concerned ‘Citizens of Ahafo-Ano South’ has petitioned the President and the Local Government Minister and drawn their attention to the situation.

“We want the sacked DCE to move out of the Government Bungalow, as well as return vehicle, with registration number GS 976-10 to the Assembly”, the petitioners stated and further called on the President to appoint a new District Chief Executive as soon as possible.

According to the Concerned Citizens, in spite of his dismissal, Gabriel Barimah, who claims the government owes him, continues to occupy the official residence and is enjoying free water and electricity at the expense of the tax payer.

The complainants, who expressed disgust about the negative press the DCE had given the district, said they did not want to take the law into their hands to throw the sacked DCE out of the bungalow, hence the petition through the RCC.

“We are pleading with you to stamp your authority and bring sanity to our district within your capability”, the petitioners said.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Yamin, who received the petition on behalf of the President, assured the petitioners that the government would address their concern.

“He, however, pleaded with the concerned citizens to be patient, whilst waiting for the government to address the issue”.

The Deputy Minister cautioned the group against anything untoward that would mar the peace in the District and the Region at large.
