Accra (Greater Accra) 18 Nov. An Accra Circuit Tribunal today remanded twelve persons who claims to be members of the Abor Unit Committee at Madina in prison custody when they appeared before it charged with damaging an uncompleted hostel costing ?250,000.00. The accused who pleaded not guilty include Emmanuel Owusu Darko chairman of the committee. Francis O. Bosompem, secretary. Mr.Sostenes K. Asray, Stephen Gambrar, William Kofi Acheampong and Emmanuel Pobi Acheampong. The rest are Godfried T. Osae, Isaac Yeboah, Alex Ayisi, Alexandar Nuamah, John Adusah and Oscar Foli. Police inspector Albert Akpey told the tribunal chaired by Mrs.. Anderson, that in 1994 Mr.. Odamptey Lamptey, an Educationist acquired a plot of land at Madina from the elders of La Stool Accra for a school project. The prosecution said when Mr.. Lamptey began to develop the plot the accused person objected, saying that the government has acquired it. According to the prosecution they demolished the uncompleted building and the matter was reported to the police and the case sent to court in March this year. However, prominent people in the area asked the court to allow the Ga District Chief Executive and the district assembly to go into the matter and it was found out that the land belonged to Mr..Lamptey. Anytime Mr.. Lamptey's workers went to the site they were driven away until the matter was reported to the police again. gri
