Bawku (UE) Aug 8, GNA – Twenty-three persons have been fined various sums of money for motor traffic offences by the Bawku Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Kofi Sunu.
Justice Sunu, however, cautioned them that failure to pay the fines would attract prison sentences.
He also warned them against repeating their offence. Sergeant Raphael Azanyitiga prosecuted them.
Their prosecution follows a special exercise embarked by the Bawku Police in the Municipality and its environs to enforce road safety laws, especially among the motor riding public.
Some of the offences are riding unregistered motor bikes and riding without crash helmets.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Adamu Seidu of the Bawku Divisional Crime Office expressed concern about the high rate of indiscipline on the roads, which results in the loss of lives and warned that anyone found violating the law would be dealt with accordingly.
DSP Seidu advised the people to respect the laws of the land because a society without laws does not develop properly.
