Twifo Assembly enhances support for communities

Atti-Morkwaa (C/R), Feb. 6, GNA - The Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira District Assembly last Thursday, presented 100 bags of cement, 500 exercise books and a 29inch colour television set to the people of Atti-Morkwaa, in the district.

The books are to be distributed to the pupils of the two local primary schools, the cement for the rehabilitation of the two school blocks, while the television set was donated to the community.

In an address, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Yaw Agyeibi-Kesse, reiterated the government's determination to enhance socio-economic development in all parts of the country.

He mentioned the provision of the capitation grant, which has since its introduction, increased enrolment in schools, and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which is geared towards improved health care delivery, as some of the measures being taken towards accelerated development.

He announced that, Atti-Morkwaa and its surrounding communities would soon be provided with potable water, as part of the 'Small Town Water Project' (STWP).

Mr Agyeibi-Kesse appealed to the people to give the requisite support to government's policies and programmes, and echoed calls on persons, who were going about discrediting the scheme, to desist from it.

He also appealed to the people to revive the community watchdog committees to help combat crime.

In a related development, the DEC also paid working visit to the two communities of Osenegya/Twiapiase and Ashire, where he also presented 350 and 110 exercise books respectively to them and promised them 50 bags of cement each for their school projects. He also briefed them on the importance of the capitation grant and of the NHIS, and asked them to embrace the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on oil palm, to step up agricultural production in the district.
