Two students from the Twifo Praso Senior High School have been arrested in connection with the lynching of a spiritualist at Twifo Praso, in the Central Region, graphic.com.gh reports.

The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, August 21, 2024, around 8:00 PM.

The students are accused of leading a group of their peers in an attack on the spiritualist, identified as Abdul Latif, after he accused one of them of stealing a mobile phone.

The phone, belonging to a junior student, had gone missing, prompting the students to seek Abdul Latif's help in identifying the thief through his spiritual practices.

After performing some rituals, Abdul Latif singled out one of the students as the culprit.

In retaliation, the accused student reportedly gathered a group of about ten others, who ambushed Abdul Latif and subjected him to a brutal beating, resulting in his death.

The report said the group then attempted to conceal the crime by dragging his body into a nearby bush and covering it with vegetation.

However, the police discovered the body and transported it to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.

The incident has since sparked outrage among some youth in Twifo Praso, leading to plans for a retaliatory attack on the school.

However, a swift response from the police, including reinforcements from the Central North Regional Police Command, managed to prevent further violence and maintain order in the area.

The father of the deceased, Yaw Nkrumah, revealed that this was not the first time his son had been attacked by students from the school.

According to him, Abdul Latif had been assaulted twice before but managed to escape unharmed.

Unfortunately, the third attack proved fatal, the report said.
