Two Men Arrested over Stolen Fridge

Madina, June 22, GNA - Two young men suspected to be thieves were arrested at dawn on Monday at Madina, near Accra, by some residents when they allegedly tried to steal a second-hand fridge from a store near the Firestone area. Speaking to the GNA, Mr Kwaku Asadagli, a carpenter who lives close to a second-hand dealer in fridges and television sets, said at about 4 a.m. on Monday, after visiting the toilet, he saw the two men sitting behind the store.

He said when he entered his room, he peeped through his window to see what they had come there to do. He then saw the suspects moving away the second-hand fridge.

Mr Asadagli said he quickly raised the alarm and the two men were arrested and sent to the Madina Police Station.

The owner of the store, Mr Tony Akakpo, said thieves have on different occasions, this year, broken into the store and stolen an air-conditioner, 20 pieces of fridge motors, a bicycle and a fridge, all totalling 2.8 million cedis.

The Madina Police gave the names of the suspects as Nii Kudjoe and Yaw Idum and said they would be interrogated.
