Kpando (V/R), Sept. 1, - Ten persons died in two separate accidents last week at Goviefe-Kowu in the Hohoe district and Kpalime- Duga in the Kpando district. The accident at Goviefe-Kowu occurred last Thursday when a car in which a couple and an Accra-based lawyer were travelling to Kpando was in collision with an articulated truck. All three persons in the car died on the spot. They were identified by the police as Mr Victor Tanson, an Accra- based businessman from Kpando and his wife identified only as Esi from Nkonya, and Mr Mawuko Ataafi, the lawyer from Alavanyo. Their bodies have been deposited at the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital in Kpando. The second accident, which occurred at Kpalime-Duga in the Kpando district last Tuesday, claimed seven lives. According to the police, a truck loaded with about 200 bags of salt and bound for the Dzemeni market, crashed into a stationary vehicle and ploughed into some pedestrians. The deceased, deposited at the Peki Government Hospital mortuary, have been identified as Mama Kuikui, Irene Lumor Aherfa, a Mr Ayittey and Fuseini Zabrama. The rest are Doris Aku, Ama Dzraker and Linda Agbenyega.
