The Police have arrested two suspected armed robbers who handcuffed and robbed a Police officer and others during a robbery spree within the Teshie-Nungua enclave in Accra.

The two, 25-year old Ernest Dzigbordi Atani and Roland Darkeh, 22, who are said to be members of a notorious robbery gang that has been terrorizing residents in the Ledzokuku-Krowor municipality are assisting the Police in investigations.

According to the Police, the two have admitted to being part of the gang whose two members - Ababire Macdey aka, Obuobi, a student and Simon Sowah, a mason - are each serving a 71-year prison term.

The two suspects have so far led the Police to 16 of the houses they have attacked since January and August 2015, including that of three police personnel within the Teshie- Nungua area where they have been operating.

Police say the two managed to use a handcuff belonging to one of their Police victims, handcuffed him and robbed him. They later went to the house of another female officer who managed to scare them away by firing a warning shot when they intruded her house.

The Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, expressed regret over gruesome murder of a Vodafone staff last Wednesday at sakumono during an armed robbery operation.

He has urged the public support the Police with information to track and arrest the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Police in Accra has arrested four members of a car jacking syndicate who attempted to slit a lady whose car they snatched from her.

They are 23-year old Kofi Kyeremeh, a mason, Bernard Sackey, 41, a constructor, Jalil Iddrisu, 23, a driver’s mate and William Yaw Osei, 35, a driver. They allegedly snatched a Mercedes Benz saloon, changed the registration number and abandoned it at Sakumono.

Police say the gang also snatched another Nissan salon and other valuables including a wrist watch, phones and other items belonging to the owner before proceeding to the lady’s house to steal the lady’s car.

They reportedly attempted to slash the victim with a machete when neighbours rushed to her rescue following the sounding of a security alarm in the car.

The four drove the snatched car to Abeka Lapaz with the intention of using it for robbery spree when a Police patrol team spotted and stopped them but refused prompting the team to chase them.

They abandoned the vehicle at Tabora, hired a taxi to aid their escape to Amasaman but arrested around Achimota Neoplan. The Police upon a search on them found an iPhone belonging to the victim, a locally manufactured pistol, life ammunition and a machete.
