Two Robbers Nabbed For Attacking Woman

Two suspected armed robbers who attacked a woman and robbed her of an amount of money and other valuables at Sowutoum in Accra have been grabbed by the Tesano District Police.

Suspects Yusif Samboa, 28, and Bernard Agyekum, 25, allegedly committed the act on Friday, December 21, and bolted.

Luck eluded them as they were nabbed separately at the 37 Lorry Station and Kwame Nkrumah Circle respectively on December 24, 2012.

An amount of GH¢1,500, an IBM laptop, and a Samsung mobile phone were items robbed from the victim by the suspects, according to the police.

Superintendent Felix Apedo, the Tesano District Police Commander, told DAILY GUIDE that the suspects spotted the victim at Abeka Lapaz awaiting a vehicle and consequently trailed her to her house at Sowutuom.

According to the victim, the suspects demanded an amount of GH¢2,000 from her before she was set free.

The victim initially tried to resist them but suspect Bernard Agyekum attempted to stab her with a knife.

The suspects then took the aforementioned items from the victim and fled leaving victim to her fate.

The victim later reported the matter to the Tesano District Police for action.

On December 24, 2012, however, around 3pm, victim spotted suspect Bernard Agyekum at the 37 Lorry Station awaiting a vehicle and called for his arrest.

Suspect Bernard then led the police personnel to arrest his accomplice Yusif Samboa at Kwame Nkrumah Circle that same day.

The two in their caution statement admitted to the offence and would be sent to court after the Christmas festivities are over.

Meanwhile, the Nima District Police command has also arrested two men suspected to have played a role in the killing of a 27- year-old Maxwell Owusu.

Maxwell met his untimely death around the Daily Guide Junction when he allegedly fell from a moving taxi on its way to the Nima Police Station.

The suspects arrested include Anthony Quarm, 30, and Godson Vormawor, 29, who are currently in police custody have been charged provisionally for murder.

Freeman Tetteh, the Accra Regional Police public relations officer, told DAILY GUIDE that the incident occurred around 10:30pm Christmas day.

Information gathered indicated that the suspects and the victim were part of other merry makers enjoying themselves at a spot near the Nima Roundabout.

While they were drinking, a friend of the deceased, who is yet to be identified, allegedly had an encounter with suspect Anthony Quarm, an act which resulted in a scuffle.

In the process, the friend of the victim slapped suspect Anthony and bolted.

The suspect and his cronies then arrested Maxwell to help them trace his bolted friend.

Maxwell initially declined to show them where the friend had run to so they forcefully put him into a taxi and drove towards the Nima Police Station area.

Upon reaching DAILY GUIDE junction, the door of the taxi cab opened so Maxwell fell from it and died instantly.

The two suspects upon realizing that the suspect had died escaped leaving the victim and the taxi driver alone but they were later arrested by the Nima Police.

Suspects currently in police custody will face trial after the Christmas festivities.

The body of Maxwell Owusu has been deposited at the police hospital morgue.
