University of Cape Coast (UCC) has rusticated two students for two semesters over their roles in the bloody clash between the Atlantic and Casely Hayford Halls of the university.

The two students, Augustine Awotwe Mintah and Prince Kwabena Agyemang were said to have instigated violent clashes between students of the aforementioned halls in November 2016, leading to a student sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Students from the two rival halls hurled stones at their opponents, resulting in more casualties.

A letter dated March 17, 2017, and signed by the Director of Academic Affairs, Jeff Teye Onyame indicated that the rustication of the students takes effect from the 2016/17 academic year.

According to the letter, the students are to stay away from the University campus during the period of their rectification.

They are however expected to resume their studies at the beginning of the second semester of the 2017/18 academic year.
