Two billion cedis released to improve power supply in C/R

Anomabo (C/R), Nov. 10, GNA- The Government has released two billion cedis to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to improve power supply to some communities in the Central Region.

President John Agyekum Kufuor who announced this said the poor power supply in the region was due to overloading and that the amount would be used to improve on the infrastructure for efficient power supply to communities around Assin Fosu.

President Kufuor was addressing separate durbars of the chiefs and people of the Anomabo Traditional Area at Anomabo and the Nkusukum Traditional Area at Mankessim on the last day of his three-day tour of the region on Wednesday.

President Kufuor pledged 500 million cedis towards the rehabilitation of the Kwegyir Aggrey Mermorial Senior Secondary School. He said in addition to that, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MOEYS) would provide the needed assistance to the school as a monument for the role played by some intellectuals from the town who, contributed to the promotion of education in the country.

Rehabilitation of the School is estimated at about 850 million cedis and the people had raised 250 million cedis.

President Kufuor assured the people that the Anomabo town roads and Fort William would be rehabilitated to attract more tourists to the town.

Nana Kantamanto Amoono XI, Omanhen of Anomabo Tradtitional Area appealed to the Government for assistance to uplift the image of the town that had been neglected by past governments.

Nana Sakyi III, Obaatan of Nkusukum Traditional Area appealed to the government to uplift the status of Mfantseman District to a Municipality.

He called for improvement in water supply, electricity and other social amenities.
