Two chiefs say NPP could perform well in Ketu-South

Aflao, July 9, GNA- Togbui Amenya Fiti V, paramount chief of Aflao traditional area, on Tuesday said with workable strategies and hard work, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), could overturn the pattern of voting in its favour in the Ketu-South district in the 2008 Election. He observed that "Aflao has become cosmopolitan and this could change the pattern of the way things were done in the past", provided the party's local executives adopted innovative ways of canvassing for votes for the party.

Togbui Addo VII, paramount Chief Klikor, said affinity existed between Danquah-Busia tradition and the people of the Volta region in the past and observed that the situation was re-emerging once again. The two paramount chiefs said these when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and leading NPP members paid a courtesy call on chiefs from the district at Togbui Fiti's palace at Aflao on Tuesday, during the last leg of the party's campaign in the Volta region. Nana Akufo-Addo said Ghana was on the threshold of prosperity and needed a president of his calibre to confront the challenges and expectations of the "new Ghana."

He gave the assurance that the Volta region like other regions would be given an equitable share of resources for d0evelopment. Nana Akufo-Addo who also addressed a rally at Aflao called for a rejection of any inclinations towards violence in this year's elections. Mr. Yaw Osafo-Marfo, a leading member of the party who said he was overwhelmed by the tumultuous attendance at the rally said "Aflao is becoming an NPP world bank and this is beautiful". 9 July 08
