Two CHPS compound were commissioned by Kwahu Afram Plains South District Assembly Two CHPS compound were commissioned by Kwahu Afram Plains South District Assembly

The Kwahu Afram Plains South District Assembly had commissioned CHPs compounds in two communities to serve the people in the area.

Each of the facilities has an outpatient department, nurses' quarters, recovery wards, maternity wards, and toilet facilities.

The beneficiary communities were Nsuogyaso and Dunkro all in the Eastern Region.

At a brief ceremony held to hand over the keys of the facilities to the communities, Mr George Ofori, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said the assembly provided facilities such as hospital beds, delivery beds, and other equipment to the facilities to enable work to start in the facilities.

He said there were a lot of smaller villages under his jurisdiction that need health facilities such as CHPs compound and health centers, hence the commissioning.

Mr Ofori said some inhabitants in deprived villages had to travel miles before having access to quality health care services and said the assembly had plans to construct more of the CHPs compound in the district.

He said the facility provided would serve over 2,000 people from surrounding villages in the district.

Mr Ofori said the assembly had provided enough Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) at vantage points across the district to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 to the area.

He said the assembly has plans to also extend electricity to a new area in the district and reshape all access roads in the district to improve upon the standard of living of the people.

The DCE entreated the health workers to take good care of the facilities to ensure that it lasts for others to also benefit from them.

Receiving the keys on behalf of the communities, Madam Joana Amankwaa, the District Director of Health Services thanked the assembly for heeding to their pleas and promised to ensure that the facilities are well maintained.
