A Kumasi circuit court has sentenced two drivers’ mates to three years imprisonment each for stealing assorted items worth GH?4, 000 at Sepe Buokrom, in Kumasi.

Benjamin Koranteng, 19, and Okaisha Fuseini, 24, were sentenced by the court on their own plea of guilty to three counts of conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage and unlawful entry during their first appearance in the court.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Felix Akowuah, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mrs. Patricia Amponsah that, Koranteng and Fuseini were driver’s mates and friends.

Fuseini stays at Agric Kromoase while Koranteng resided at Sepe Buokrom, both suburbs of Kumasi.

On March 11, 2018, at about 10:00pm, one Christian Ayivi, the complainant in the case, discovered that several items in his room at Sepe Buokrom had been stolen.

The items included a mattress valued at GH.1,000, a woofer and its speakers valued at GH?500.00, a set of stuffing chairs valued GH?1,500, a centre table valued at GH?400.00, among others.

ASP Akowuah, said Ayivi then reported the theft to his landlady.

A search was conducted in all the rooms in the house and some of the items were found in the room of Koranteng.

He was arrested and handed over to the Kumasi Airport Police and during interrogation, he admitted the offence and mentioned Fuseini and two others who are now at large as his accomplices.

ASP Akowuah said Fuseini was arrested at his hideout while manhunt had been launched to arrest the other accomplices.
