Two grabbed for attempted robbery

Accra, April 12, GNA - Two persons who conspired with others to rob their elder brother of his money on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court. The Accused claimed their elder brother was wealthy but did not support them.

Kwadwo Adusah also known as Osei and his accomplice, Kwaku Yamoah Biney both traders have been charged with conspiracy and attempted robbery.

The Court did not take their plea and remanded them into prison custody to reappear on April 22. The Prosecution told the Court that on April 9, at about 1830 hours, the Police received information that Osei and Biney had approached some young men at Agbogbloshie to help them to rob their elder brother, who dealt in spare parts at Abossey Okai but lived at Kwabenya.

The Prosecutor said the accused persons told the young men that, their brother carried huge sums of money home every Saturday since banks did not operate on Saturdays. Osei claimed that their brother was rich and did not help any of his brothers.

The Prosecutor said one of the witnesses, who did not like the idea, informed his friends, who had good relations with the Police and agreed to assist the accused persons in their operation. The accused persons were, however, delayed and detained by their accomplices who earlier reported the matter to the Police. An Under Cover Agent (UCA) and one of the young men posed as armed robbers and quickly provided a car for the operation. Immediately the accused persons and the witnesses joined the car for the 'operation', they were sent to the Police Headquarters and subsequently charged.

In their caution statements, the accused persons admitted and confessed having contacted the witnesses to rob their brother but pleaded for forgiveness.
