Two killed in Eastern Region on Monday

Koforidua, March 31, GNA - Two persons died in separate accidents in=

the Eastern Region on Monday, when they were knocked down by speeding vehicles whiles crossing the roads at different locations. The deceased were identified as Francis Kofi Nyarko 57, who was knoc= ked down on the Apedwa-Accra road and Ethel Amakye, 10, who was hit by a hit-and-run driver at New Akrade in the Asuogyaman District. Commander, the driver of Ford Explorer Pick-Up with registration number D= V 1935-10 Tarfia Sabre, who knocked down Nyarko at Apedwa, was in police custody but his vehicle caught fire and burnt soon after the incident. He said in the case of the little girl, the police had intensified efforts to apprehend the driver who bolted.

Kumasi-Accra with one person on board and on reaching Apedwa hit the deceased, who was crossing from one end of the road to the other. He said Nyarko was rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital where he was pronounced dead soon on arrival and the body has been deposited at the morgue at the same Hospital. The 10-year old girl was rushed to the Volta River Authority (VRA) Hospital by onlookers but died whiles receiving treatment. Her body has b= een deposited at the hospital morgue.
