A fatal collision occurred between a tricycle, known as ‘Abobo Yaa,’ and a fuel tanker at Denkyira Nyinawusu, resulting in two confirmed fatalities, as reported by the National Ambulance Service.
Fire personnel from Diaso extricated the bodies from the wreckage and handed them over to the National Ambulance Service, who then transferred them to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and preservation.
According to eyewitnesses, the tanker, which was travelling from Accra to Subin, developed a mechanical fault and was parked by the roadside when the tricycle collided with it.
Following the extrication, the fire personnel managed the leaking tanker, taking measures to prevent a fire outbreak and potential explosion.
They temporarily cooled the tanker while awaiting the arrival of another tanker to discharge its contents.
The police were at the scene directing traffic as the incident blocked half of the road.
