Two people named in connection with murder case

Tepa (Ash), July 31, GNA - The Tepa police on Monday invited two people, Justice Adusei Baffour, 34, trader and Nana Yaw Gyamfi, 42, a building contractor, for questioning for their alleged involvement in the death of Madam Afua Yinkah, a farmer who was murdered on her farm on July 22.

They were however granted bail pending further investigations. Briefing the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Awuah Baafour, District Police Commander, said during the one-week funeral rites of late Madam Yinkah at Tepa, a woman named Afua Marfowaa allegedly possessed by the spirit of the deceased (Nsamankom), named the two as those who murdered her. He said the allegations created tension in the town so the police invited the two suspects for questioning and detained them for their own safety but released them on bail the next day.

ASP Awuah-Baafour explained that in the country's criminal laws, the police could not arrest and prepare criminal charges against any suspect based on necromancy or any other form of spiritism. 31 July 08
