Cape Coast, April 28, GNA- A first year 'level 100' female student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), was on Wednesday morning, found dead with a stab wound by her room mates at the 'new hall' of the university.

The police are investigating the circumstances leading to her death. Her name has been withheld for security reasons.

The Public Relations Officer of the UCC, Mr Jeff Onyame who told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Cape Coast, on Wednesday said the three other roommates of the deceased, had studied outside the hall the previous night, and on their return early Wednesday morning, found the door locked.

When the deceased failed to open the door, they went to the porter's lodge for a spare key, opened the door and found her lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound "around her neck", with the lower part of her body, hanging from the edge of her bed.

Mr Onyame said there was no sign of a break-in and that the body has been conveyed to the UCC hospital mortuary, while the authorities were preparing to notify her family.

When contacted, Chief Inspector Jasper Essien of the Regional police headquarters, who is handling the case, confirmed the incident and said it was being investigated.
