The Cadres Front, an umbrella organization of all cadre groupings under the Provisional National Defence Council(PNDC), and affiliated to the National Democratic Congress(NDC), have established an interim executive of the United Cadres Front, to run the activities of the cadres until the next Congress to elect a substantive executive for the Front.
The 12-member interim executive is jointly chaired by Mr Shine Gaveh and Mr Kofi Aikins, and include Mr Charles Afare, Mr Tom Brown, Ms Mercy Akromah, Ms Rejoice Ahiable, Mr Lawson Godro, Mr Efanam Nyarku, Mr Osei Piesie-Anto, Mr Edward Mba, Mr Sammy Donkoh and Mr Camillus Sakzeesi.
Speaking at a press conference after the unification meeting in Koforidua, Mr Efanam Nyarku, spokesperson of the Front, who addressed the press conference, urged the regional, district, zonal and unit branches of the cadres front, to take note of the new development in the Front to act accordingly.
He said a new constitution for the Front had been drafted and would be subjected to the necessary consultations before finally being presented at the next Congress for adoption.
Mr Nyarku expressed the appreciation of the Front to some senior cadres who put in a lot of efforts to ensure the unification of the cadre front.
In a prelude to the press conference, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, explained that immediately after the 2012 general elections, some developments at the cadre front led to the split of the cadres into the East Legon and the Kuku Hill groupings.
He said several attempts were made by some senior cadres to unite the cadre front, but without success.
Mr Sekyere explained that it was only at the unification meeting that the parties involved and the various groups agreed for a united front, and therefore, elected an interim executive to prepare the grounds for the next congress for the group for the election of a substantive executive, and the adaptation of a new Constitution for the United Cadres Front.
