Members of the United Cadres’ Front of the NDC join all progressives to condemn the current xenophobic attacks of fellow Africans by South Africa. What is most worrying is the blatant refusal to heed the call by His Excellency Jacob Zuma for the youth to stop those dastardly acts. It may sound very ridiculous for a country that has suffered racial discrimination and subjugation for decades to easily forget about their history to go that length.
By the horrendous pictures put on the net, South Africa is exposed to the world as a country ofheartless people; which of course sends wrong signals about a people considered as one of the most advanced in Africa and the world.
By all intents and purposes, the youth of South Africa cannot blame other nationals who are doing genuine business in their country as the root-cause of their unemployment and social displacement. It is beyond reasoning therefore that people would want to bypass the laws of their own country and subject fellow Africans to such unbearable barbaric ordeal.
The 21st Century opens wide range of opportunities for all civilized people to live together in peaceful co-existence. With the world becoming a global village, it stands to reason for people to clinch to their territory as an exclusive zone; even if they care less about their own survival and growth.
It is on this note that members of the United Cadres’ Front of the NDC commend His Excellency Mr. John Mahama and all well-meaning citizens for coming out to draw the attention of the South African youth about their inhuman acts.
We entreat the United Nations to call the South African government to order by using all available means possible to quell the insurgence; having in mind that the looting spree the youth have embarked upon cannot give them permanent livelihoods; but rather instigating the wrath of other nations against their nationals elsewhere.
Signed:
EFANAM FELIX NYAKU
GENERAL SECRETARY, UCF of NDC
