UCMAS Ghana present awards to 70 schools across the country

The Universal Concept of Mental arithmetic system populay called UCMAS, which is a professional organization dedicated to developing the intellect of children, has presented awards to the 2019 winners of the national competition.

The theme for this year’s competition is; "A UCMAS Child; A Gift In Today’s Competitive World". The UCMAS programme has trained children to display speed and accuracy, confidence, concentration, improved listening skills, comprehension skills, outstanding Creativity, photographic memory skills and fantastic Arithmetic Skills.

Speaking in an interview, the Chief Executive Officer of UCMAS Ghana, Roger Ohemeng said the 10th edition, is organised to unearth talents in the country who have proven that they can achieve greater heights when given the requisite training .

According to him children must be encouraged to take part in competition since that it builds their mental fortitude

Out of 1,450 schools children 900 are boys whiles 550 are for girls with the hope that they impact into lives across the globe with children ranging from 4 to 14 years. Some of the levels the children wrote the exams are Elementary A ,B ,KG and Basic.

The patronage of this year national competition which is being held at the Pentecost Convention Center at Kasoa ,Millinieum city is very encouraging because school heads, including parents have embrace it.

Mr Ohemeng therefore calls for government partnership to enhance and train more schools under government .

UCMAS Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the UCMAS Education group, started with 2 centres in Accra and today, UCMAS is now present in every region and operating over 150 learning centres and over fifty-five Area Coordinators all over Ghana. UCMAS is in partnership with over 300 schools that are running the UCMAS programme as a school curriculum activity. We thank all our partners and parents for their support over the years for ensuring that the UCMAS total brain development programme reaches most children in Ghana.


UCMAS Ghana Limited, with your patronage and partnership, is now present in several countries across Africa. These countries include Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea-Conakry, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda.

"We hope to gradually ensure total brain development, eradicate maths phobia from all Ghanaian children, boost their confidence level, enhance their listening skills, and strengthen their creativity and imagination level for the educational development of Ghana. We believe that the UCMAS total brain development programme forms a good foundation for our children. Hence the challenges in science and mathematics education will be alleviated for better results in the near future. The innovation and creativity of the UCMAS child is an invaluable tool in the nation’s development.He adde".

In 2018, 38 out of the 39 competitors won trophies and prizes in various categories. We are confident that many more students from Ghana will win awards during future annual UCMAS International Competition and this year’s competition will be held in Cambodia in December.

On his part, Chairman Ghana Education, Michael Nsowah said UCMAS Ghana Limited has chalked some successes since it introduced the worldwide brain development programme in September, 2007. Last year, UCMAS celebrated its 10 Anniversary with the theme: “UCMAS, A Decade of Quality Total Brain Development, A Pedestal for National Development.

He noted that UCMAS Ghana has trained a lot of pupils and has developed and expanded their brain capacity.


Mr. Nsowah disclosed that UCMAS programme provides a well – rounded education to develop children’s concentration, creative thinking, memory power, logical reasoning abilities and to boost children’s confidence to face challenges.
It is our responsibility as adults and responsible citizens to provide the convenient atmosphere for these children to develop to their full potential. This will ensure that they grow to become responsible adults.

He throw more light on the benefits of the UCMAS brain development programme which is endless but to sum it up, the listening, concentration and mental calculation skills are developed very to enable pupils to excel in all subjects.

Nsowah emphasis on the need for every child to have time to play and be creative and UCMAS plays a major role in this regard.

He stressed that Children who have been trained by UCMAS Ghana Limited have also won trophies in International Competitions held worldwide and I want to say KUDOS to you all my future leaders for making Ghana proud with your outstanding performances at such events.

Mr .Nsowah said UCMAS programme has received popular acclamation from Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service and many parents whose children are enrolled on the programme. I have been following the episodes of the UCMAS Mental arithmetic Quiz with keen interest.

He therefore expressed profound gratitude to all schools present here today for embracing the UCMAS programme as part of your curriculum. I would also urge all directors/proprietors of basic schools both public and private, and parents who have not yet enrolled on the UCMAS programme do so in time to enable our children, who are our future leaders to develop to the best of their abilities.
