Ghana midfielder Muniru Sulley lasted 67 minutes as his Steaua Bucuresti side were thrashed 5-0 by Man City on Tuesday in the first-leg of of their Champions League qualifying play-off.
The 23-year-old gave away a penalty in the seventh minute when he felled Raheem Sterling in the box but Sergio Aguero missed the spot-kick.
Muniru was replaced by Ovidiu Popescu with Steaua already trailing by 3 goals to nil.
Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick but also missed two penalties – the first saved and second powered over – either side of David Silva’s opener.
Striker Aguero stroked in his first goal to make it 2-0 and added two more after Nolito scored City’s third.
The younger brother of Sulley Muntari played in a double pivot in front of the back four with Vlad Achim. However, they were unable to shackle the City midfield who run riot on the day.
The result leaves Steaua requiring a miracle to progress to the next round.
The second leg is in Manchester on Wednesday, August 24, with the winners reaching the group stage.
