Professor Mawutor Avoke, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has appealed to the new executives of the UEW Alumni Association, to put in pragmatic measures to raise a vibrant alumni association that would make a great impact on the University.
He stated that the University needed the support of its alumni in its development journey.
Prof Avoke made the appeal in an address read for him at the 2015 UEW Alumni Congress where new executives were elected.
The theme for Congress was: “Alumni Partner for National Development.”
The Vice Chancellor said the authorities of UEW were poised to place “your alma mater as the University of Excellence and we will need the support of the Alumni.”
Mr Emmanuel Sarpong of the Physical Education (PE) Department of UEW, Winneba Campus, was elected President with Ms Marjorie Affenyi from the Agona Swedru Senior High, (SWESCO), as the Vice President.
Ms Afi Enya Mutakor was elected Secretary, while Mrs Dorothy Adentwir Hayford of SWESCO, was also elected Treasurer.
Mr Joshua-Luther of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Winneba, was elected Organizer.
Mr Prince Asiedu, the Association’s Electoral Commissioner conducted the election.
Nana Owusu-Kwarteng, a Director of the University, swore the elected executives into office on behalf of the Registrar, Dr C. Y. Akwaah-Mensah.
