The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has extended the academic calendar for students on the Ejumako and Winneba campuses so as to catch up following the closure of the school.
The school reopened on Monday, 8 April 2019 after about one month of inactivity after students protest over the dismissal of three of their lecturers as well as some 30 staff turned violent leading to widespread damage of school property.
Following an academic board meeting, the time for mid-semester has been extended from 9th to 15th April 2019.
Speaking to Class News, Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr Ernest Azutiga said: “Earlier, we had planned to have our mid-semester and quizzes between 9th-12th April but a number of adjustments have been made.
“So, the mid-semester and quizzes will now be on next week Monday to Wednesday. We will have the general papers written and then for the elective papers the academic board decided that it should be flexible with the departments. So, the departments will have their own arrangements but should be done between 17th-30th April.
“Additionally, we’ve had the semester extended by two-weeks. Originally, we were supposed to go down by 25 May 2019 but now we will go down on 8 June 2019. The final years were supposed to submit their projects by the end of April and that has been extended to 20 May 2019 so they could graduate in July 2019.”
