This follows the handing over of the former Institute of Ghanaian Languages to the University by the Ministry of Education upon request to help train more teachers.

He made a passionate appeal to the chiefs and people of Ajumako-Eyan-Essiam District to warmly welcome the students and endeavour to live in peace and harmony with them at all times.
Professor Asabere-Ameyaw stressed that the environment on campus provided excellent and conducive atmosphere for academic work.
"The presence of the University will help improve economic activities and also contribute to the accelerated development of the district by way of providing employment for the local citizenry," he said.
He appealed to investors, especially estate developers to help put up hostel facilities at Ajumako and its surrounding communities.
