Winneba, Aug 15, GNA- The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), will in the future, increase its intake of female students, Prof J Anamuah-Mensah, the Vice Chancellor, has said.
Speaking at the first matriculation of Post-Graduation Diploma in Educational Management and Administration, he said the University is concerned about the serious imbalances in education in the country. It has, therefore, set out strategies to help address the problem of low female enrolment in tertiary education.
The Vice Chancellor announced that the University has admitted 20 students out of 35 qualified applicants for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration Management.
Prof Anamuah-Mensah expressed concern about the low enrolment of students offering science-based programmes and the low capacity of technical and vocational teacher education.
He said the University aims at training a new crop of teachers and education administrators who have the requisite knowledge and skills to bring about transformation in the sector. 15 Aug. 03
