The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) will next year begin a Masters in Public Health Programme at the School of Public Health at its Hohoe Campus.
Professor Fred Bimka, Vice-Chancellor of the University said this at the 4th matriculation of the University at its permanent campus at Sokode-Lokoe, near Ho.
He said the “innovation programme” would have five areas of concentration; Monitoring and Evaluation, Health Systems, Reproductive Health, Public Health Nutrition, and Epidemiology.
Professor Binka said the University also planned to start its Pharmacy Degree Programme in the School of Pharmacy in the 2016-2017 academic year and also run certificate courses for national teams in the School of Sports and Exercise Medicine (SSEM).
He said the achievements of the University in the past three years had placed it in a respectable class, attracting thousands of applicants yearly.
Professor Binka said for instance, the University’s “vocational training” programme, based on community service was bringing the University closer to people in the Region with mutual benefit.
He welcomed a total of 829 fresh students to the University and urged them to let tolerance, patience and understanding be their guiding principles.
Professor Binka asked them to conduct themselves properly during all examinations in the University and abide by the rules and regulations of the University.
