Koforidua, August 5, GNA - Some United Nations (UN) agencies has visited the flooded areas in the Eastern Region to access the situation and see how best they can assist.
The agencies, which included the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Food Programme (UNFP) and World Food Programme (WFP), also interacted with the people to find out how they could help immediately. Dr Vincent Ahove, a member of the team from WHO said the visit was an inter assessment mission from the various agencies of the UN. He noted that any time there was disaster; the UN comes in to help the people affected.
He observed that the flood that hit the region was a very serious one and therefore there was the need to assess the situation before the needs o= f the people was met.
Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister said so far they had reached out to all the victims and would assist in providing relief items.
