The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Alumni Association would soon start the construction of an ultra-modern hostel for the university to enhance effective teaching and learning.
The project, which is expected to be completed by the year 2020, would be financed through voluntary contributions and fundraising activities.
Dr John Kwaku Mensah, President of the association disclosed this at the launch of this year’s Alumni Homecoming at Legon in Accra, on Friday.
It is on the theme ‘’Celebrating Our Past and Present whiles Supporting the Initiative of the University’’.
Some of the activities lined up for the Homecoming includes photo exhibition, breakfast meeting, seminar, health walk, dinner and awards night.
Dr Mensah said the project, when completed, would accommodate about 1,500 students, adding that, the association was donating GHC 100,000 to the Vice Chancellor’s Endowment Fund to support brilliant but needy students.
He said the project was to “give back to the University for making them what they are today”.
Dr Mensah expressed the hope that the alumni would serve as an inspiration and guidance for the current students and urged them to take their lessons serious.
Professor Abednego Okoe Feehi Amartey, Vice Chancellor of the University commended the Association for the initiative and pledged the collaboration of the University at all times.
