US Ambassador holds funfair for children with special needs

Accra, Nov. 26, GNA - Ms Pamela E. Bridgewater, American Ambassador, on Saturday organized a funfair for 300 children with special needs to commemorate America's Thanksgiving Day. The children selected from the Catholic Action for Street Children, Dzorwulu Special School, Lord Krishna's Academy, Agape Children's Home, and New Horizon School among others, were entertained to music and various games at the Residency of the American Embassy in Accra. Ms Bridgewater said she decided to hold the funfair for the children to commemorate the celebration of Americans, which is observed as a holiday on every last Thursday of November.

She said she usually organised such funfair annually in every country where she served as part of that holiday celebration, which was basically for sharing.

"This celebrations for the children is to let them feel a sense of belonging, love and to know that they are cared for" she indicated. The Ambassador with her team of volunteers from the Embassy shared items including books, gift boxes and toys donated by her church in Fredicksburg, Virginia to the children who were also entertained to music and lunch packs.

Reverend Joseph Egyir-Assam, Director of Agape Children's Home, expressed appreciation for the exposure, describing it as a blessing to show the children that they were not alone.
