US Ambassador in Ghana visits Tamale

Tamale, Nov.29, GNA - The US Ambassador in Ghana, Pamela E. Bridgewater arrived in Tamale on Tuesday to begin a three-day familiarization tour of some communities within the Metropolis. Madam Bridgewater would sign a 35,000-dollar grant for four institutions on Democracy and Human Rights in Tamale, self-help programmes in Northern Ghana and visit Gbambaya and Gurugu. She would also visit the Savelugu School for the Deaf, where a Peace Corps Volunteer is teaching Visual Arts and proceed to Duko to inspect the success of an agricultural initiative by USAID and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

Madam Bridgewater would renew the US Government's partnership with the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) to support the Ghana-US Resource Centre in Tamale.

Madam Bridgewater on arrival paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Saddique Boniface and gave the assurance that the US Government would help to address the challenges in the Region to improve the living conditions of the people Alhaji Boniface said the Regional Security Council had been able to stabilise peace in the region.

He commended the US Government for helping to sustain peace and called for support to develop facilities to enhance the socio-economic advancement of the people.
