...to fast track MCA process
Accra, Aug. 30, GNA - A delegation of United States Congressional staff led by Mr Matthew MacLean is currently in the country to help Ghana finalise the detailed report of her proposal of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA).
When the entire process is completed, Ghana would be privileged to access 290 million dollars from the MCA that would enable her to implement an integrated development of agri-business potentials.
Receiving the delegation in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, expressed Ghana's appreciation to the team and said 290 million dollars was a significant investment by the US tax payer hence every effort would be put in place to ensure value for money.
He said the areas of focus were obviously going to transform the lives of many people in the rural areas.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Professor George Gyan-Baffour, a Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, said currently the country was at an advanced stage of the detailed proposal. He said the last stage that would focus on due diligence would start in three weeks after which an agreement would be signed for implementation process to begin.
