The United States Embassy in Ghana has congratulated the country for successfully holding its General Elections to elect a President and Members of Parliament (MPs).
In a message posted on the Embassy’s official social media platforms, the United States emphasized that the election results reflect the will of the Ghanaian people.
The US reiterated its commitment to continuing its strong partnership with the Government of Ghana under the leadership of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
The Embassy commended all candidates for ensuring peaceful elections.
“Congratulations to all Ghanaians on a successful election that reflects the will of the people.
The United States looks forward to continuing our strong partnership under John Dramani Mahama,” the message stated.
“We also commend all the candidates who participated in this election cycle for their commitment to peaceful elections and the transfer of power, as eloquently expressed in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s concession speech. Ghanaian history books
“We stand with the people of Ghana and their belief in the power of the people, affirming that #DemocracyDelivers,” the message concluded.
Although the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has not yet officially declared the winner, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, presidential candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has already conceded defeat and congratulated John Mahama, the President-elect, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their decisive victory.
