US government official commends DCE

Breman Asikuma, June 2, GNA - The District Chief Executive for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, Mr. Sampson Kwame Anfako has been commended by the United States under-secretary of the Treasury, Mr. John Taylor for the able manner he has executed projects in the District with World Bank Funds and other donor agents.

Mr. Taylor therefore, gave assurance that the World Bank would continue to bring in more funds to assist the country for village infrastructure Project (VIP).

The under-secretary gave the commendation when he led a seven-member delegation of World Bank officials on a visit to Breman Asikuma last Sunday to interact with the DCE and inspect some projects and to give recommendations.

In his address Mr Taylor said he was satisfied with the projects he has inspected and that the World Bank would continue top give assistance to the country.

The DCE listed some of the projects executed as the construction of 22 hand dug wells serving a population of 13,734 rehabilitation of two farm tracks serving three farming communities, rehabilitation construction of three markets in three communities under VIP and construction of three Town council offices and five area council offices and construction of a number of schools.

The team included Mr Jim Adams, Vice President operations World Bank, Mr. Mats Karlsson, Country Director, World Bank, accompanied by Mr. Michael Ayesu, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Accra, Mr. B.M. Oppong, National Co-ordinator VIP, Mr. Charles Annor Frempong, World Bank, Accra and the DCE.

They inspected borehole project at Breman Kokoso, the feeder road at Nyamebekyere at Breman North area council, the Market at Breman Asikuma and Heruwe, NGO for HIV/AIDS office at Breman Asikuma. 2 June 04
