UW/R Minister hands over 442 motorbikes for distribution to Assembly Members

Mr Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, Acting Upper West Regional Minister has handed over a total of 442 motorbikes for onward distribution to Assembly members across the 11 Municipal and District Assemblies in the region to facilitate their work.

He said the procurement of the motor bikes was in line with the President’s believe in the effectiveness of the decentralization system in the country as key to enhancing development at the grassroots level.

The purpose of the motorbikes was to empower the Assembly Members so that they would be able to organise their respective Electoral Areas and carry out their official duties effectively.

The Acting Upper West Regional Minister cautioned Assembly members to use the motorbikes for the intended purpose and help to bring government to the doorsteps of the people.

“These 442 motorbikes cost a lot and it is state money that government has invested to ensure that Assembly Members are effective and efficient in the delivery of their work”, Mr Issahaku said.

He appealed to Assembly members to take good care of the motorbikes and use them for the intended purpose”.

Alhaji Issahaku Tahiru Moomin, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and Dean of District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the region together with Mr Karim Topie, Presiding Member (PM) for Wa Municipal and Dean of PMs in the region received the motor bikes on behalf of their colleagues.

Mr Topie thanked government for empowering them to carry out their mandate and pledged to ensure good use of the motorbikes.

He said the motorbikes would go a long way to improve their work and gave the assurance that they were going to work hard to enhance the decentralization system.
