Under Fire AG Gtes Support From Consistuency

The people of Abuakwa Constituency in the Eastern Region have expressed their support and confidence in the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo. The Attorney General suffered two embarrassing legal defeats in less than two weeks. In the first instance, the Supreme Court ruled that the fast track courts were unconstitutional.

Barely two weeks later, an Accra High court ruled that the charge of wilfully causing financial loss to the state brought against the former GNPC Boss, Tsatsu Tsikata by the Attorney General’s office was also unconstitutional.

But Nana Akuffo Addo’s constituents are urging him not to be deterred by recent attacks on his performance as the Attorney General, following the Supreme Court’s decision.

The Abuakwa Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Douglas Asare made the declaration of support on behalf of the people when he presented cheques totalling 15 million cedis on behalf of the Attorney General to support development projects in eleven communities in the constituency.

Ten million cedis of the amount, which is from the MP's share of the District Assemblies' Common Fund is to be used to support the provision of water in 10 communities, while the remaining five million cedis is to support a self-help electrification project at Akyem Adukrom.

Mr Asare said, since January, this year, Nana Akuffo Addo had spent over 40 million cedis of his share of the Common Fund to support development projects in the constituency.
