Unemployed man remanded over defilement

An unemployed man was on Tuesday remanded into lawful custody by an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 15 year old girl at Kisseman in Accra.

Emmanuel Tagoe, who confessed to the victim‘s mother after the act, absconded for seven months.

Tagoe, 18 has pleaded not guilty to defilement.

He is to reappear on November 17 before the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong –Adjin-Doku.

Prosecuting, Detective Inspector J. B. Asante said the victim lived with her mother at Kisseman in Accra, whilst Tagoe lived in an uncompleted building on the same compound.

On April 30, this year at about 13:30 hours the victim’s mother, who is a trader, went to the market and left the victim at home.

Tagoe, who saw the victim mother live the house, took advantage of her absence and lured the girl into his room and had sexual intercourse with her.

According to prosecution, the victim bled during the act so she went to the market and reported the matter to the mother.

When the mother returned home and confronted the accused, he confessed to the crime. However Tagoe absconded soon afterwards.

A report was made to the Police and a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital.

On October 29, this year, Tagoe was arrested and handed over to the police.
