Raymond Tamakloe, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, has slammed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the rise in unemployment under its regime compared to what it inherited under the previous administration.
During a discussion on TV3’s Debate Arena, Raymond Tamakloe was not charitable in his choice of words when describing the NPP government as the only government that has borrowed more from countries than any other government that has ruled Ghana yet is recording a rise in unemployment.
According to him, although the NPP government sought financial help from the international world, there has been no proper development in the country to correspond with the huge loans contracted.
He further questioned how the money borrowed by the NPP was utilised and how it has impacted the lives of Ghanaians reeling under untold hardship.
While arguing his point, Raymond Tamakloe disclosed that under the NDC, a lot of revenue was made from the Atuabu Gas Plant, Tema Port, and other companies.
He further stated that John Dramani Mahama built the Accra Digital Center, which provided 10,000 direct jobs for the people of Ghana, and that the Takoradi Port also provided about 5,000 direct jobs to the youth of Ghana.
“Before we left office, the unemployment rate was 8.4% and today the unemployment rate is 14.7%. So if you say you have embarked on infrastructure development, what is the direct benefit to the ordinary Ghanaian” Raymond Tamakloe questioned.Ghanaian history books.
