The inability to fulfil all manifesto promises by a political party in power does not make the leaders of the party liars, according to the Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi.
He says all governments worldwide cannot have a 100% success rate with their promises.
To him, it is a phenomenon worldwide and should not be equated to politicians being untruthful or liars.
While speaking on Accra-based United Television, Sammy Gyamfi, who has over the years described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a liar for not fulfilling all his promises to the people of Ghana, said the inability to fulfil manifesto promises cannot be equated to being a liar.
Sammy Gyamfi was answering a question on why the National Democratic Congress (NDC) failed to fulfil its promise of building a National Theatre in the Ashanti Region.
"Unfulfilled manifesto promises in itself does not mean that the person is a liar. I am not naive; there's no political party that fulfils all its manifesto promises. If you go to America and pick the manifesto of the Democrats and Republicans, none of them can fulfil 100%.
"So you can pick any manifesto of any government and still get an unfulfilled promise. That in itself does not mean someone is a liar or not truthful," he said.
