Professor Kwame Gyan, a law lecturer at the University of Ghana has talked up former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah as the ideal candidate to lead the National Democratic Congress in the post -Mahama era.

In an Angel FM interview, the legal luminary outlined the distinguished features and characteristics of Julius Debrah which in his view place him above any other potential candidate as the flagbearer of the NDC in the 2028 elections.

Likening Julius Debrah to a tortoise, Professor Kwame Gyan opined that Julius Debrah possesses qualities that make him the prime candidate for the NDC as the party will be going through a transition from the successful John Maham leadership to another one.

He described him as a unifier, magnanimous and strategic person who pays attention to details and has excellent human relations skills.

He further indicated that, the Tortoise, which is a land-dwelling cousin of the Turtle, embodies a profound symbolism around patience, resilience, and the need for time.

“Julius Debrah doesn’t rush in doing things, he has good heart and is kind to all without considering someone’s political affiliation before he helps the person.”

“I have worked with Julius on several occasions and he’s down to earth, his demeanor is unique and he’s a unifier. He knows his work and doesn’t rant.

Julius does his work calmly, doesn’t fail and always succeeds.

In politics, selfishness doesn’t help, if you are a leader and you exhibit the attitude of selfishness towards your members they will teach you bitter lessons during elections. ”

Julius Debrah is respectful and accommodative, that’s the next leader NDC should look for, so for NDC to succeed after John Mahama, Julius Debrah should lead them to have easy way to win election 2028, he affirmed.

In the incoming John Mahama administration, Julius Debrah has been named the Chief of Staff, a role he held and executed perfectly in the previous government.

An instrumental figure in NDC’s historic victory in the December 7 elections, Julius Debrah is co-chair of the Transition Team.

One of Ghana’s prominent legal scholars, Prof. Kwame Gyan is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, University of Ghana, and the current Head of Chambers of Kwame Gyan and Associates, a position he has held since 2000. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association.
