Mamponteng (Ash), Nov. 7, GNA - Alhaji Ahmed Akwasi Yeboah, Kwabre District Chief Executive, has called on the various unit committees in the District to regularly organise communal labour and submit names of defaulters to the Assembly for sanctioning.
Alhaji Yeboah, who was addressing a two-day first ordinary meeting of the second session of the Assembly at Mamponteng, observed that unit committees in most of the towns did not organise communal labour and even when they did, most of the people defaulted without being punished. He announced that the Assembly mobilised 1.6 billion cedis out of the projected revenue of 1.634 billion cedis, as at August this year. He expressed the hope that with the cooperation of all stakeholders in revenue generation, the Assembly would have a better story to tell in revenue generation at the close of the year.
Alhaji Yeboah expressed concern about the behaviour of some Heads of Decentralised Government Departments towards Assembly meetings and directed the Coordinating Director to sanction any Departmental Head, who failed to attend Assembly meetings without permission.
"Heads of Departments as technocrats, are supposed to advise the Assembly on issues relating to their fields, unfortunately, only a few are dedicated, and regularly attend meetings from sub-committee levels to the general house", he said.
The DCE announced that the Assembly released 25 million cedis out of its budgetary allocation to the District Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), to purchase needed relief items for distribution to people, who suffered various disasters. He said 38 boreholes had been drilled in 18 communities, with nine yet to be drilled and explained that out of the number, 22 of them were successful, 13 required hydro-fracture and three were found to be dry.
