Uniting Nkrumaist Parties Crucial for Victory in 2008

Bolgatanga, Sept. 19, GNA - The First Vice Chairman of the Upper East Regional branch of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Mr. John Yaroh, has urged Party members to support ongoing efforts by the leadership to unite all Nkrumaist parties for victory in the 2008 elections.

"In politics, organization decides everything. We need as many party activists as possible to carry out our campaign for power," said the Vice Chairman in a release issued to the press in Bolgatanga on Monday.

He noted that as a result of the disunity that had plagued the Nkrumaist front, the Ghanaian public had written off the CPP and other opposition parties from the onset, thereby limiting the 2008 general election to a straight race between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Yaro said the emergence of splinter groups within the CPP had had negative effects on the Party's credibility, and urged members and supporters to exercise discipline in all their actions. "We must be able to convince the people that we are a credible alternative to both the NDC and NPP," he reiterated.
