Tarkwa (WR) Sept. 16, GNA - The third matriculation of University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) Tarkwa, to admit 315 students was held at the weekend. Professor Daniel Mireku-Gyimah, Vice Chancellor of the university, advised the students to utilize the opportunity and resources at their disposal to become world-class professionals in engineering, management, science and information technology.
He said authorities of the university had revised the
academic curricular to include courses that were relevant
to modern technology and enable the graduates to
compete on the international market. The Vice Chancellor expressed concern about lack of
adequate infrastructure that made the authorities to admit
only 30 per cent of the qualified applicants. The university has 1,080 students out of which 99 are women constituting 9.2 per cent.
