Unless a miracle happens, NPP will lose 2016 - Kuranchie

Following the Supreme Court verdict, which saw John Dramani Mahama being declared a “validly elected” president, several commentaries have come up with predominant ones being who leads the New Patriotic Party, come 2016.

General Secretary of the party, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, expressed his unflinching support for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 2012 presidential candidate of the party, to contest the presidential seat for the third time.

He stressed that even if Nana Addo is in a “wheel chair”, the party will still push him forward for the presidential battle.

This notwithstanding, the Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight, Ken Kuranchie, says it is almost impossible for the opposition New Patriotic Party to clinch victory, come 2016, without a miracle.

Speaking on Oman FM on Monday, he called on the party members to pray for a miracle or else they may bow out of the 2016 general elections as a result of the relentless attitude of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, it will be difficult for the NPP to come to power because the government, under the leadership of President Mahama, will contrive to retain power in 2016.

“If the Mahama government could clinch victory just within 40 days, what then can’t they do when they have three years?” he questioned, stressing that: “if a miracle does not happen” the NPP “will lose 2016.”
