Ex-President John Dramani Mahama has charged members and sympathisers of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to ensure the values of the June 4 Revolution are not eroded.

“We, therefore, have another opportunity of the twin events to rededicate ourselves to the values of the June 4 Revolution, which brought into being the 31st December Revolution and the National Democratic Congress,” the former President said in a statement signed by special aide Joyce Bawa Mogtari.

This year’s June 4 anniversary is being held at Wa with several dignitaries expected to grace the occasion. These dignitaries include: Pete Edochie, a Nigerian actor and film producer; Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament; Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader in Parliament; Tsatsu Tsikata, lawyer and former CEO of GNPC, Dr Benjamin Bewa-nyog Kunbuor, lecturer in law; Dr Raymond Atuguba, lecturer in law; Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, former minister; Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, former General Secretary of the NDC and Chairman of CDR; Dr Kwabena Donkor, MP and former Minister of Power; and a host of many other people who identify with the ideals of June 4.

Mr Mahama, who extended regards to the founder of the NDC, will not be present at the occasion as Mrs. Mogtari explains that a double tragedy of deaths – one a nephew, Capt. Maxwell Mahama, and the Chief of Bole – has placed some responsibilities on the former President.

The release urged members of the NDC to join in the activities of the June 4 anniversary scheduled for Wa in the Upper West Region on Sunday, June 4.
