Wa (UER), Sept. 24, GNA - The Upper West Regional Audit Reports Implementation Committee (ARIC) has been inaugurated at Wa as part as of measures to streamline financial administration in the region. The six-member committee, which has Mr George Hikah Benson, the Regional Minister as Chairman, has the task of ensuring that all audit reports of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the Region are speedily responded to.
It has been noticed that the inability of these MDAs to respond to these reports often resulted in their surfacing at the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Mr David Yakubu, the Regional Coordinating Director said at the ceremony. He expressed the hope that ARIC would ensure that responses are issued as soon as audit reports are received by the MDAs. Mrs Winefred Dy-Yaka, the Deputy Regional Minister, who inaugurated the Committee on behalf of the Regional Minister said the Committee was a strategic and high level independent body that would promote good financial management in public institutions in the region, She said the New Patriotic Party government believed in establishment of external controls to ensure ethical standards in financial administration. Mrs Dy-Yaka told the members that the job required excellence and they would be called upon to account for their stewardship.
